Time Cycles and the intellgence of nature

Time cycles

First, the Indians have always considered time as Cyclic, whereas Western Science considers it as linear. This is why they have running numbers for the year, such as 2013. They also have B.C., and A.D. to avoid confusion in history. Hypothetically, after a billion years, the Princeton Scientist will say he was born in the year 1234567890000 A.D. Sure enough, our Scientists will come out with a short cut like they did for 2000 A.D. as 2k. In India, instead of running numbers for each year, we have sixty of them named such as PRABHAVA, VIBHAVA ETC. When one cycle of sixty years finishes, another cycle starts. This is just like the numbers on the clock, or the days of the week.

When any individual completes one cycle of sixty years, it is celebrated as SHASHTIABDAPOORTHY, and when one completes one thousand full moons, it is celebrated as Sathaabhishekam. No one lives to complete two cycles i.e. 120 years!

We believe that, one cycle of the Universe is 31,10,40,00,00,00,000 human years. After this period, it dissolves in Water for an equivalent period. It again comes into existence to be the exact copy of the earlier one. This cycle of creation, dissolution, creation etc. continues endlessly. All subsequent questions on the character of the Universe are answered in Vedanta (Upanishads).

Manifestation of Brahman

Second, about the wonderful yellow flower picture (Forsythia) Vaidhy has taken. It is better structured and larger than the Malabar version and looks very satisfying. Now, where did Nature do the shopping or learn the architectural engineering? The fantastic yellow colour, the size, the number of petals etc. who and where are these settled. Again Vedanta has the answer. Botanists can only answer the characteristics of the components that go to make the flower, the environmental pre-requisites etc. They cannot answer who and where this whole programming - it is pure intelligence - is done. Vedanta says it is Brahman, the efficient fundamental principle that causes it. Brahman is not a physical reality, it is a principle, just like honesty, sincerity, and it is pure intelligence. It programmes itself in multifarious ways to suit the clime, location, time and other parameters. It exists all over time and space and pervades the entire Universe. It performs continually without limitations of time or space or anything else. You are what you are because Brahman, the principle, has programmed you that way. Even when there are changes brought about automatically or by effort, it is because Brahman has programmed that way. Ego (Avidya - Nescience) makes us think that WE ARE THE AGENTS OF CHANGE!
