Ramayan chronology
This is an excellent authentication of the Ramayana chronology, and deserves to be read and understood. It should make us very proud of our land and its history. We have had several great persons born here, who idealised life to its minutest detail. They showed us how easy it is to live, to get the best out of a human birth, to add value to the social set-up around us and, above all, to justify our birth as human beings.
Valmiki was gifted the boon by Brahma, whereby he could see in his mind the entire Ramayana story, not excluding the goings-on in the minds of the characters like Ram, Sita, Kaikeyi etc. That it is a story of a comtemporary personage is evident from the conversation between Valmiki and Narada in the starting chapters of Bala Kanda. Valmiki specifies 16 human qualities in the abstract and asks Narada if he knows of anyone having all these, AND WHO IS ALIVE NOW. Narada says yes, and mentions Sri Rama who is possessed of all the sixteen qualities and who is King of Ayodhya.
Even apart from Sri Rama's historicity, the fact that someone like Valmiki could conceive of such a character - ideal in every way and a role model for humanity - itself speaks highly of the Indian concept of elevated human values and the ART OF LIVING.
If a Sri Rama had not been there, imagine how tribal and African our country and our people would have been! All Ravanas and Thatakas, and no safety of life for any one! Thank God for these small mercies.
