Indian faith
The Indian faith, popularly known as Hinduism, is no religion, as understood and practised by other religionists of the World.
It is an ancient, holistic, Code of Conduct for living, and envelops the entire Universe, and everything in it. It is founded on the premise that the entire Cosmos is one whole (BRAHMAN), of which all animate and inanimate beings, all aspects of Nature, the Gods etc. are inseparable components.
Thus, everything therein has a right, as well as a duty to co-exist and to last a full life, Nothing should be done to upset this rythm of the Universe. As a sanction to ensure this, it is enjoined that, anything that is dying is reborn, also all good and bad thoughts, words or deeds will be rewarded or punished equivalently.
It is based on these that, we worship humans like Sri Rama or Sri Krishna, animals like the elephant (Ganesa), Monkey (Hanuman), Bull (Nandikeswara) etc. birds like the Eagle, Reptiles like the Five-headed Cobra Adi Sesha, Rivers like the Ganges, trees like the Banyan, stones like the Himalayas or idols of stone, leaves like the Basil, in fact Nature itself.
